Lye Soap Pine Floorboards

Then the soap is left to soak in and mopped with clean water to finish. The soap is 100 vegetable based and it soaks into the pours of the floor making a barrier against dirt. Softwood lye may be used for all types of softwood such as pine spruce and pitch pine. After all the flooring is reclaimed and not meant to be 100 perfect.
After further sanding a white tinted wood soap is applied which has an oily finish and acts as a protective sealant. All i will say is that a slight mishap occurred when experiencing an itchy nose as i used the lye on my new oak kitchen. Hvid sæbe white soap lud and white oil are three different things. They need to be freshly sanded for it to give it an even look.
Our clients typically specify our widest engineered douglas fir floorboard 260mm and in the longest length specification up to 3 5m. After the lye process has been completed the floors are mopped with a mixture of soap flakes hot water.
