Mat 124g Battery

The last version the 124g was essentially the same as the 124 except that it had gold plated contacts in the meter hence the g suffix.

If you have one of these instead of the 18awg wire indicated in the sketch use a single strand 12awg wire and strip off the insulation. It has been fully tested and all mechanical functions perform well. Of course like all cameras from that era the yashica mat 124g took a 1 35v mercury battery. Use either mallory px 13b eveready epx 13 or equivalent. Having only 12 frames to fill in a roll is also a positive thing for me because i can fill it up quickly then send it to develop. A common complaint with used yashica mat 124 124g cameras is that that meter is inoperative. It has the film rewind shutter cooking handle and exposure number window and iso control dial.

Open the battery compartment cover holding with finger and by turning it counter clockwise. Not that the meter is very accurate but i would think it would make it less. There is a simple film reminder function integrated into film knob.
